From Palestine to Cuba: 

One struggle for freedom, justice and self-determination 

For 67 years, the Palestinian and the Cuban peoples have been united in solidarity. The same year the revolution in Cuba won, Che Guevara visited Gaza. Since then, we have been two peoples that supported and inspired each other. 

Today is the time for Palestinian solidarity with Cuba to rise. 

As Palestinians we are passing through our terribles times. Israel’s genocide in Gaza continues unabated, the ethnic cleansing in the West Bank accelerates, and Israeli apartheid and illegal occupation continue with impunity. 

Across the seas we see the criminal blockade the US imposes on Cuba and its effects on all spheres of life. It is reminiscent of the initial years of Israel’s blockade of Gaza, 20 years ago.

The stranglehold on Cuba is part of the US-Israeli project to impose on the entire globe a brutal era of “Might Makes Right”, destroying international law and institutions, burying the right to self-determination, and obliterating the safeguards generations of anti-colonial struggles have achieved. This concerted effort started in Gaza, where the US-Israel axis tested perpetrating a livestreamed genocide, for the first time in history, with apparent impunity. The US now applies the same logic of imperial unhinged power in Latin America, with Cuba as the central objective, following the criminal aggression against the people of Venezuela. The illegal aggression on Iran, provoking a regional war, is yet another expression of these imperialist crimes.

In the people of Cuba, we see the same steadfastness, dignity and resilience that our people are showing every day, the same determination not to surrender to injustice and oppression. 

We know that it takes people’s power to end impunity, create accountability, and to stop the US-Israeli project of colonial crime. From the rubbles of Gaza, the besieged villages and cities of the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, from across our homeland and the diaspora, we call on our Palestinian people - in particular in Latin America, the Caribbean, and the US - to stand in solidarity with Cuba. 

Let us put to practice the belief that in unity lies strength. 

Let’s never forget that the night is darkest before dawn. Together we can stop the US-Israeli imperialist project and build a future of justice and peace for Palestine, Cuba and humanity. 

While we continue to demand accountability and sanctions on Israel to lift the siege to let the humanitarian aid already available into Gaza, end the genocide, apartheid and illegal occupation:

We call on our people to demand an end to the US blockade on Cuba and to join the global effort to deliver urgently needed sources of energy and humanitarian aid to Cuba. 

Let’s join the solidarity with Cuba and ensure that on March 21, we are able to deliver a Palestinian donation, contributing to the Cuban struggle for self-determination.
